The rails appear to be quite narrow-gauge, or is that just because it was taken at distance? It would be interesting to know where it goes(in both directions.
Thanks. Actually the photo was taken at a distance, hence the rails are wider apart than in they look. It's the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
I would like to imagine the people who traveled the rails. Where were they going? Why? Were they running from someone or something? Was this the only train to take them to their destinations, or would they board one or more trains to get there? Ah....so many questions!

Yes, indeed, there are likely as many reasons to travel by rail as there are people on the trains.
